On a Dell Latitude E6410 with a i7 620m intel processor 4GB ram, 128gb solid state drive Windows 32 bit (86x) using Microsoft Update, it took about 14 minutes.
On a HP Pavilion dv6915nr laptop running a fresh install of Windows 7 32 bit, I was having trouble using the Microsoft update software. Instead, I downloaded the msi distribution pack for SP1 and ran that. It took 8 minutes to download, and then 49 minutes to install, so just under the one hour mark that Microsoft said it takes.

It is taking for-gawddawm-ever, it's been an hour and it's still 'Configuring Service Pack' 9% complete without me being able to use my computer. It's a top notch machine. Still, what the hell is it doing? Feels like it's trying to backup my 2 Terabytes of raw video material onto a cloud with a slow connection or something. This sucks. I'm gonna pull the plug soon.
Configurations seem to take forever up to 9%, then accelerates a lot and completes almost right away.

I have a 6 core i7, 8 gb of ddr4 memory, 250gb sdd and it is taking hours... hours of "please do not power off or unplug your machine. Installing update 1 of 1." bliss
Obviously, I had to download and run the windows update troubleshooter, because the install failed early.... now it is, dort of, installing.... but taking hours....
